Internet was introduced in India during the end of 1990's. By then we had Windows 95 / 98 with Pentium II / III / Celeron processor and 16/32 MB RAM and 1/2 GB Hard Drive. Dishnet and Sify Provided Internet Dial-Up Services. It took even hours to get connected to the internet. There was separate charges for telephone and ISP. Since the cost is huge only few afford to have internet connection at home. Browsing centers were charge about 40 rupees per hour.
Now the situation has changed. Revolution in telecom industry changed everything. There are so many players like BSNL, Reliance, TATA, Aircel, Airtel, Idea, Uninor etc.
Personal Computer price has dropped dramatically. Now you can own Intel Atom processor Powered PC with 2 GB RAM, 500 GM Hard Drive, 15.5" TFT Monitor for as low as Rs. 13000.

Now come to the internet connection. For those living in cities have many options. BSNL, Airtel, Reliance and other players have infrastructure for landline based broadband internet. For example 2 MBPS unlimited connection is available at Rs. 2000 per month in Tirupur. For those living in rural and village areas options are limited. BSNL network is the only option for rural areas. With the advent of Wireless broadband the situation has changed. Wireless broadband was first offered on CDMA networks like Reliance. Reliance offers netconnect broadband. TATA Indicom offers Photon. MTS entered the market lately and acquired market in Tamilnadu and other states. For these connections you have to buy USB Data Cards which are network locked. That means you can use these device on their particular networks only. The situation changed with the emergence of 3G data cards. Theoretically they offer upto 7.2 MBPS download speeds. My home is located in a remote area and i don't have many options for internet. So i wanted to try 3G cards. I use Aircel (Coimbatore). and have quiet good coverage in my area. I bought 3G card through ebay. Huawei E173 cost Rs. 1600 inclusive of shipping. After inserting the card autorun will install modem drivers and also Mobile partner software. You have to activate 3G plan. For example in Aircel send messsage 'START 3G' to 121. It will be activated in 1 or 2 hours. For me it was activated in 10 minutes. You can also use the card only with GPRS/EDGE connected. But this is very slow. Put your SIM card in the slot of 3G card. Insert it in the USB port and open the mobile partner software. If 3G is activated on the SIM it will show WCDMA AIRCEL on the lower left corner with signal strength. In profile name select Aircel (If you use Aircel SIM) and click connect. Now you are connected to the superfast 3G network. Now on the lower left you can see HSPA Aircel. Open your browser and start browsing. You can watch streaming videos, read mails, use social networks like facebook and download files, pictures, videos with the 3G speed. In my case i recharged only for 3 days Aircel Pocket internet for Rs. 14. Before activating 3G it worked in EDGE mode. I did not recharge for 3G. After activating 3G it worked at about 1.5 MBPS. At speedtest.net i get around 1.6 MBPS speed. You can take this data card in your pocket and use it anywhere in laptop / pc wherever 3G network is available!. So try this amazing piece of technological marvel.

Gmail will no longer work in Internet Explorer 6 (IE 6)

Google's Gmail will not work in IE6 browser

GMail is the popular free email service by Google Inc. Millions of people are using gmail for email communications. Internet Explorer 6 is the popular web browser software developed by Microsoft Corporation. It was bundled with Windows XP and older operating systerms. Due to the security vulnerabilities in IE 6 Google has discontinued support for IE 6 browsers. This means you will not be able to open and read your emails using IE 6. So you need to upgrade to latest versions of Internet Explorer or you can use other brands like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome to access you Gmail account.

Google announced this a few months back and today i was not able to read my mails using IE 6. I was able to login to my Gmail account and can view the inbox, but i could not open the mails. The link was not clickable. I always use firefox and seldom use IE for browsing.

I am using sitemeter on my websites to keep track of my visitors. Most people use statcounter on their websites. But i never used statcounter and sitemeter is good for me.
It offers a lot of visitor information. For example in the summary option it gives Total visits and page views. Average daily vists and page views. Average visit length, Last hour vists and page views, today's vists and page views, weekly vists and page views. It also give Who's On? which can be used to find who is currently viewing your website. It gives Domain Name, Location, last page view, total page views and visit length. In traffic prediction menu it gives prediction of future traffic by hour, day, week and month based on past traffic.

In recent visitors option it gives recent visitors by Deatails, By referrals, By World Map, By Location, By Out Clicks, By Entry Pages, By Exit Pages.

Visits and page views can be viewed by Previous 7 Days, Previous 30 Days and Previous 12 Months.

It also gives page ranking by Entry Pages and Exit Pages.

Sitemeter is free with all these features. There is paid version as well with more in-depth details. So, use sitemeter on your website to know the details of the visitors.

Petrol Price hike

Price hike of Rs. 2.50 - Pongal Gift?

The Government of India announced a hike of Rs. 2.50 for the price of Petrol effective from January 15, 2011. The price was hiked not so long ago and the price hike received stiff resistance from the opposition parties and general public. In Tamilnadu it is pongal holidays and the price hike is a unwelcome Gift.

Petroleum is vital not only for the economy but also for the individuals. Everyone depend on this non-renewable resource. In a single month the price was hiked for two times. A five rupee increase per liter will affect people dramatically. A middle class family that lives on a monthly budget suffers heavily from the price hike. And this hike is not going to stop. If this pattern goes on in a year or two the price per litre of petrol would be more than 120-130 rupees.

Beacuse petroleum prices are determined by the international market the government of India has very low control over the price hike. What should we do now? Should we completely stop using the petroleum? Right now there is no perfect alternative to Petroleum. Electrical powered vehicles are costlier and not powerful as their petroleum counterparts. Solar power also is still experimental and not practical. The government can fund reasearch at university levels for students pursuing research in alternative energy. But this will not happen in a country where IT and computers and considered supreme than traditional science subject. The politicians and policy makers are content once their pockets are filled. Spectrum and other scams fill their pockets once in a while.

Alert! Scam Phishing emails in the name of Gmail

I received supposedly scam emails

Today i received a suspicious email. The from address was secureemailservice@gmail.com. The following is the exact copy of the email.

Gmail science & technology team has recently launched Google web software to protect and secure all Gmail Accounts. This system also enhanced efficient networking and fully supported browser. You need to upgrade to a fully supported browser by filling out the details below for validation purpose and to confirm your details on the new webmaster Central system.

Username:

Date of birth:

User Password:

Country:

Note: Your account will be disabled permanently if you failed to provide the details required above within 72hours. Gmail will not be held responsible for your negligence.

The Google web Service.

Immediately after reading the mail i doubt the authenticity of the mail. There are so many phishing attempts in the recent time. What is phishing? It is an attempt to gain the confidential and sensitive data of individuals like internet banking account name, password in an attempt to gain access to their accounts. What would happen if you give away your internet banking account details or credit card details to somebody untrusted. They will simply take away your money and run!

No banks or reputed organizations ask for user id and password. Why should they ask for them? They will have the details stored in their database.

What are the implications of responding to this mail. If you reply with your Gmail user name and password it will land in the wrong hands. The person will login to your Gmail account and look for useful information like credit card / internet banking account details.

I just posted a messaged in Google Help forum and waiting for response. The mail i received also threatened that my Gmail account would be disabled if i did not respond within 72 hours. Google will never threaten its users in this way. In the mail i also found some terminologies that are connected in no way. Such terms as 'Web master Central' has nothing to do with Gmail accounts. It is for web site developers and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) persons.

So please ignore this email if you received one. I will update once i get further details on this scam.

Nandhu & Family visited yesterday

Yesterday My business partner nandhakumar along with his wife sumathi and son Yashik visited my house. We planned it on saturday to have a lunch at my home. They arrived at my home at 10.30 am. We decided to make chicken fry and kulambu. nandhu and i went to somanur to buy groceries and chicken. Chicken (nattu kozhi) was not available in somanur. We went to samalapuram to buy chicken. We selected a 2.3 kg cock. After removing feathers it was only 1.5 kg. We paid Rs. 240 per kg and total 492.

We planned a small drinks party and we had it along with chicken fry. The taste was average since my wife and nandhu's wife are amateurs in cooking. We had the whisky and returned home. Had lunch and had a small nap for two hours. Nandhu & family returned at about 5 pm.

How to get refund from IRCTC for failed transaction?

IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited) is a Government of India Enterprise that offers online booking of rail tickets in India. Everyday hundreds of thousands of people book their tickets using internet via IRCTC. IRCTC offers a variety of payment methods for online ticket reservation.

I have booked many tickets using IRCTC in the past. But last week i booked bulk tickets for my friends for a goa trip. I used my Karur Vysya Bank Debit card for payment. IRCTC offers a number of payment gateways powered by CITI bank, HDFC bank, Axis Bank etc.

Amount Debited from account and Ticket not booked, what happened? Can i get a refund.

Online payment is a complex process that involves a number of stages. Your ticket will be booked successfully if only all the stages are completed. If a stage fails in the process your ticket will not be booked. For example if you give wrong CCV number / expiration date your payment via Credit card / debit card will not complete. In that case a Settlement Failed entry will be posted in Refund Status of Failed Transaction in My Transactions section of your IRCTC account. This part will have S.nO, Transaction ID, Pay Status (settlement failed/settlement requested), Reservation status, Total Amount and Bank.

If settlement Failed is shown you can ignore it as no amount is debited from your account. In case amount is debited from your account and no ticket is booked a 'settlement requested' status will be shown. In that case IRCTC will refund your amount in few days.

What to do? Whom to contact to get the refund? Should i contact IRCTC or my Bank?

Don't worry. Your amount will be refunded automatically to your bank account in 4-5 working days. Check your account statement in 4-5 days.

I got an email indicating that my payment was refunded. The following is the email i got from IRCTC

The refund of Rs. for the transaction tried by you under reference no.xxxxxxxx which has failed and later found that the payment has been debited to your credit card account has been credited to your card account at 30-Nov-2010 .
We suggest you to please retry the transaction, if not booked already. The booked tickets history can be checked to view the list of all tickets booked by you.

So don't panic if amount is debited and no ticket is booked in IRCTC website.

Sundar's Diwali Wishes

Festival of lights or Festival of frights. I started hating Diwali for the past few years. What is good in firing crackers, wearing new cloths and eating bellyfull meals, if you are unkind towards fellow humans. People are rushing madly to cloth shops, sweets shops, electronics, mobile other shops to purchase goods in discounts, offers, freebies etc. Especially middle class people are bound to this disease. Family head / Father / Husband suffers a lot for the greeds of their wives and children. Children too are addicted to this mania. We can forgive the children since they are too young to understand the reality.

In a poor country like India there is great disparity of Income among people. Some families earn as low as Rs. 100 per day while some biggies earn as much as hundreds of thousands of rupess per day. While this is not uncommon in countries where capitalism rules, in India the situation is different. The gap between poor, middle class and rich is very big. The job opportunities in IT, BPO and servcie sectors have helped middle class youths to realize their dreams. Five figure income is not uncommon for Indian Middle class. While the middle class is flourishing from the economic boom the former backbones of Indian economy, agriculture and allied sectors have seen downfalls. This has resulted in poverty in millions of families.

The government of India has taken no steps to improve the quality of life for rural Indians. Politicians and officials are busy harvesting money from many scams. The recent commonwealth games are evidence that more than half of the Government machinery is corrupt. There is another important news about the functioning of this machinery. The Food Corporation of India stocks food grains in numerous godowns across the country. The recent findings have shown that hundreds of thousands of these food grains are rotting in the godowns of the FCI due to inadequate storage facilities. A pulblic litigation was heard by the high court bench and the judges recommended the government the food grains free of cost to the thousands of poor and hungry people. The minister of the concerned department promptly denied the judges recommendations. He would not allow the food to be supplied free of cost to the dying fellow Indians. Still he will take thousands of Indian Ruppee as salary, hundreds of thousands of rupees as allowance, millions of rupess as bribe, bank accounts in switzerland and other luxuries free of cost. He is not willing to give any piece of bread to the starving fellow Indian.

Such is the condition of Indian Mindset today. We have become very greedy, jealous and selfish. This selfishness starts from the individual. Indians especially Tamils were examples of hospitality and kind heart. But that was a thing of past. The western education has corrupted the minds of Indian youths to the level that it is too late to reverse. The joint family structre is no more available. After marriage the girls wants to immediately seperate their husbands and start a new family. There is no understanding between in-laws. No understanding between wife and her mother-in-law. Educated women prefer nuclear family. This is the first sign of selfishness. This is my family, my child, my husband. I want nobody else in my life. That is the mindset of modern indian women. This collective minset will lead to nothing but chaos. These people loose affection for parents and ultimately the parents are left in homes for orphans. The same thing will happen to them in few years when they become old.

Ayutha pooja celebrated Today

Today we celebrate the Saraswathi Pooja and Ayuthapooja. Vijayadasami is the day on which the Goddess killed the demon mahishasura. Saraswathi is the Godess of Wisdom. So in this day school and college students will pray saraswathi with their study books. New courses are started on this day.

In companies, factories and workshop this day is celebrated as Ayutha pooja. Ayutha means weapon. So the working people want the grace of Godess and put their tools before the godess and pray for good fortunes. Today we celebrated this pooja in my brother's workshop. In my browsing center i have not yet celebrated ayuthapooja. I have planned to do it in the evening.

Happiest are those olden days when i was young boy. There will be expectations about the pooja holidays and forthcoming deepawali celebrations. After Saraswathi Pooja Diwali will soon come in about two weeks. So there is much joy among boys about the holidays. On the day of pooja morning we will collect flowers from nearby flower trees and will make Poo Maalai. Mango leaves will be put together and tied in front of doors. Preparation of Sundal is essential part of Pooja. Pori Kadalai is another essential ingredient of the Pooja items. We will wash two wheelers, fathers moped our cycles and decorate it with flowers and kumkum. The joy of Pooja will last for two days. After holidays we have to go to school. It is not a happy thing. But we know that diwali will come soon. With that thought in mind we can easily manage the next two weeks.

I am now a grown up man with wife and a child. I am no longer bothered by these celebrations. Pooja is just another day in my life. Diwali too does not interest me anymore. Apart from leave from work and oil bathing nothing is interesting about it.

This is because in the old days good meals, new clothing and sweets are rare. But nowadays these are common things. Purchasing of people has increased. People can get anything anytime now.

Ayodhya Case - High Court Verdict Today

The Allahabad High court's Lucknow bench will give its verdict today on the Issue of Ram Janma Bhoomi & Babri Masjid. The Hindus claim the place was the birth place of Shri Ram, Incarnation of Hindu God Vishnu. The place holds the cemetery of Muslim Emperor Babar. The case is in the court for about 60 years now. The verdict on this historic case is being given by the Honorable Allahabad Highcourt's Lucknow bench. In about few moments the verdict will be out to the general public in India.

Riots and religious disharmony is expected in many parts in India. As a precautionary measure the Indian Government and State Goverments have made elaborate security measures. Security forces have been deployed in sensitive areas. Security has been tightened in Railway Stations, Airports and Important religious places.

Religious groups have asked people to be calm.

After all we are human beings. Ram or Allah shows one path. Path of peace and love. Nobody should upset because of the verdict. One can get God's grace only by loving fellow human being. I will update once the verdict is out!

Today Google announced winner of "Project 10 to the 100'. About 1 year ago Google announced that it will select five best ideas / projects from individuals / organisations and Google will offer 1 million US dollars to implement the selected idea. In other words Google will sponsor.

Over the last 12 months Google received 150000 ideas from 170 countires. Google officials narroved the applications to 16 and put them to public vote.

We have moved to new home

On last sunday, 12th September, 2010 we moved to our new house. The house was built in just one month duration. We brought our son nishant to this new house. We were living in a joint family with mother and brother. Now we are nuclear family and have full responsibility for my family. We are settling things in our new house. Still many works are pending. I have to setup my computer in my room. The house has only three rooms one kitchen one bedroom and one hall. Enough for a small family of three. We invited only close relatives to the graha pravesha ceremony. Homa was performed by two pandits in the morning. Breakfast was issued to the guests.

Donate Blood - For a noble cause

Day before i yesterday i made a blood donation at KG hospital, Coimbatore. It was for my uncles daughter. She underwent uterus removal operation at a hospital in kalapatti. She needed two units of A1 positive blood. Me and my brother babu went to KG hospital with sivakumar and rayappan. We filled a form and the staff asked us to lie on bed and inserted needle to pull blood. I was making a good outflow babu made it too with little struggle. Though rayppan's group was different he volunteered to donate his blood. Nursing staff could not find suitable vein in his arms. So he could not donate.

So far i have donated three times. One time for my aunt, second time as a volunteer, third time at KG

I googled for Tamil-Aiswarya but could not find any download links for that font. Finally i found the font on my own system.

Nishant on 17.7.10

This sunday i reached mettupalayam at 2 pm. We had fish fry before lunch. For lunch we had fish kulambu. Then i played with nishant. In the evening sivakumar, ranganayaki, tamilarasi and children came. They went home shortly. In the evening we went to purchase teether for nishant. At night we had idly and slept.

Our new home

From the next month onwards we will be living in another house, a newly built home adjacent to our current home. Last week the site was purchased at Rs. 58000 per cent. Today we completed the bhoomi bhooja in this site. The small house will have one kitchen, one bedroom and one hall. The kitchen and bedroom are 10 feet length and breath. The hall is 10 feet width and 20 feet wide.

I am going to occupy the house the next month when my wife returns from her mothers home with my kid. He is now 4 months old and started crawling on knees.

Ramana Maharshi - Trip to Tiruvannamalai

Ashrama at Tiruvannamalai

On 8th july, 2010 we made a trip to thiruvannamalai, the hindu holy place of lord shiva. This is one of the panch boodha sthala or the place that represents the element Fire (Agni). Bharathi and me boarded the bus at karumathampatti. We took few parottas as dinner and got the bus to Salem at 10 pm. We reached salem at about 1.15 am (Friday). After having a cup of tea we boarded the bus to Tiruvannamalai. The bus started at about 2 am. At about 5.30 we reached Tiruvannamalai.

The holy place where ramana maharshi attained his maha nirvana, the place where the supreme lord Siva blesses thousands of people in the temple, welcomed us. Thangaraj came to the bus stand and picked us up. In tirivannamalai we still get tea at Rs. 4 per cup. In coimbatore it is 5 rupees. We reached the ashrama. Thangaraj introduced us to swami chetanananda who looks after the Thiruneer Annamalaiyar Trust. The trust was founded by a Tirupur based business man. The trust offers Annadhana (food donation) on full moon days. Swami chetanananda was good at cooking. He prepared the morning breakfast for us. We had dosa and uppuma as breakfast. Swami spoke about sanyasa, philosophy and more. The at 11 am we went to Ramanasrama to meet the president. I wish to sell ramanasrama books on my website www.buytamilbooksonline.in. In this regard we met the president Mr. Mani. He was an elder person. He asked us to give a letter in this regard. He also asked us to take the prasada that would be available soon to guests. We had the prasada food. It was sambar, keerai, rasam and curd. Then we went to a nearby browsing center to prepare the letter. We submitted the letter and the president assured us that he would look in to the matter. We returned to Ashrama. Then bharathi and me went to the Arunachala Temple. The temple was big and was built by Krishnadevaraya of Vijaya nagara empire. Bharathi offered ghee lighting to goddess unnamulai. He was eager to get married. He could not find a bride for him. We returned to the ashrama. I forgot one thing. In the afternoon we went to meet aruna, the mentally ill girl, my aunt's daughter is staying there at a home for mentally challenged. We met her, gave her buscuits. The poor girl lost both of her parents within past 6 months. May god protect her.

We slept at 10 pm. The next morning we will depart to home.

We returned on 10 july, 2010. We catched the bus to salem at 10 am. Thangarj gave us send off. We bade him good bye and boarded the bus. The route from tiruvannamalai was Chengam, Singarapettai, Uthangarai , Harur and salem. We reached salem at about 1.30. We had lunch at the nearest hotel and got the coimbatore bus. Tamil Conference or DMK party Meeting?

The DMK government has once again proved their might. They stunned coimbatore by mustering a huge gathering of people from all over tamilnadu. People were pouring in from buses, cars, trucks etc. The codissia trade fair center has never seen such a huge crowd. I can account 95% of these people from DMK party members. Locals from coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode were small in number. I could see the number plates of those vehicles from as far as kanyakumari, kadalur, tuticorin, Dharmapuri etc.

Kalaignar karunanidhi innaugurated the conference today. Hon. Indian president pratibha patil was the chief guest. Hon. Tamilnadu Governer Barnala and Deputy CM Stalin were also present. The first day was not people's day. There was nothing for the general public, except the road show from VOC park to codissia which i did not attend. The fair will be open for public only tomorrow. I took some snaps of the semmozhi conference. These pictures are not so nice. But they are to be looked at.

My humble motorola's VGA camera cannot take much better pictures. I wish i had canon SLR with powerful zoom.

I am just back from mettupalayam. My son is now about 3 months old. One more week to complete 3 months. Now he listen well to sounds. Babies of this age should listen to sounds. He moves his head where the sound sound comes from. He focus on faces. I still wonder whether he recognize mom, dad. No idea. I read that newborn males have chance of developing hydrocele, accumulation of liquid in scrotum sac. In most babies it will disappear at about 1 year of age. If not a small operation is required, which is outpatient procedure and risk free.

He has not developed another habit. He is sucking his thumbs. Most babies start sucking thumbs even while in mother's womb. There is not much to worry about it. Babies will forget it when they are grown up.

Should i need entrance pass for the Tamil Conference?

We are all set for the big conference. The biggest event ever conducted in coimbatore. I am proud of being a coimbatorean. I welcome every people from every district of Tamilnadu, every state of India, every country of world. Here are some clarification for general public regarding the Tamil conference.

How can i attend? Should i get a entrance pass / ticket?

No. You don't have to purchase any tickets. General populace can participate in the conference without any ticket. However before entering the auditorium you will checked for security reasons. This is normal. For people coming from outside facilities have been made for food, accomodation (not free!)

Where to stay? How about the accomodation?

General populace coming for the conference should arrange their own accomodation. There are plenty of lodges, hotels in and around coimbatore. In hope college and citra there are so many cheap lodges available. There are plenty of Schools and colleges in the area. Government could have made arrangements for accomodation. Right now i don't know about it.

What are programmes / schedule?

The conference spanning about a week will hold many functions, programmes. 400 Internet experts are attending the conference from all over the world. There will be 124 stalls from both government and private. The Central Minister for Textiles will inaugurate the Stalls on 24th June. On 24th Internet conference will be held. The themes include Electronic Governance, Tamil Hardware, Tamil Software, Tamil Multimedia, Internet Education, Wikipedia etc. Wipro, HCL, Microsoft and other software giants participates. One lac Tamil Unicode software CD will be distributed for free.

How to get to codissia?

The conference is held at Codissia, Trade Fair complex, Avinashi Road (NH-47), The nearest landmarks are Coimbatore Medical College (CMC), Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT), Government Polytechnic (GPT), Krishnammal School. From Gandhipuram the distance is about 8 kilometers. I have given below the Google map for the location.

I have launched Online Book shop for Tamil Books

The idea was a spark. I have some talent, knowledge of online industry especially e-commerce. Why not i use that talent to create a new business model. With the growth of internet most people purchase goods and services online. I considered many things and finally concluded to open online book shop. Sales of any tangible goods require substantial investment. But i can not invest that much. I will do the marketing part. Get the orders online and the book publishers will fulfill their orders.

I will do my marketing part by hosting website, Cataloging books from various publishers, and making arrangements for online payments using credit card, net banking.

The world classical Tamil Conference starts on 23rd june, 2010. The conference will held at codissia trade fair center, Avinashi Road, Codissia. The place was selected due to its strategic location near SITRA, Airport. The Airport is only about 5 kilo meters from the codissia trade fair complex. It is also near National Highways 47. The Coimbatore City, Gandhipuram and Townhall are only about 10 kms from codissia. Here is the Google map representing the place. How to reach codissia? From Coimbatore you can take bus. There are frequent corporation buses available to codissia. Or you can take auto or Taxi.

A theme song for the classical Tamil Language conference was released by Government of Tamilnadu. The Tamilnadu chief minister kalaignar karunanidhi wrote the lyrics. Sucking his thumbs

Most infants start sucking their thumbs at this stage. This is the only play available to them. My son is also putting his hands and fingers into his mouth. It is so cute to watch while he was helping with one hand to put another hand into mouth. How to prevent this habit? We don't know how to. We just wrap around his hand with a cloth. It is annoying for him. He cries when he was not able to put his fingers in mouth. I think he associated thumb sucking with hunger and milk feeding. Whenever he feels hungry he sucks finger.

Mithra's Marriage

After uncle and aunt's death their two daughters were completely orphaned. College going mithra discontinued college and stayed at home. It is now more that 6 months after uncle's death and his younger daughter is married today. It is the effort of minnakadu mani that culminated in this marriage. The groom is our relative named palanisami. The physical compatibility is good. In terms of money and wealth both are matched. We did not match horoscope. Just obeyed the God's will by asking red flower.

The marriage took place at our kula theivam temple at kadaiyur near kangeyam. The newly married couple are just home. I wish them a great married life. I wish them all prosperity and success. I wish them a healthy and disease free life. I wish them good and virtuous children. May my lord Sri Ragavendra and Sri Hari Narayana protect them from all mishaps and helps them in their struggle.

Powercut - Tamilnadu Suffers

The hot summer month of April-May is almost over now. Many cities in TamilNadu recorded highest ever temperatures. Tourist places like ooty, kodaikannal got thousands of tourists. The electricity board is doing their part by cutting 3 hours of electricity at different places at different times. Now the powercut has been reduced to 2 hours. Apart from Monthly one day full shutdown for maintenance work this regular powercut is affecting homes, factories and commercial establishments. Here is the revised timing of powercut in many parts of coimbatore. This is effective from 27-may-2010 onwards and applicable to Coimbatore District.

Yesterday i reached Mettupalayam in the evening about 7 pm. The growing traffic made my journey in annur - mettupalyam difficult. The brighter headlight of today's cars also makes night traveling a nightmare. He was awake. Priya and mohana were there. Nishant is now responding well to sounds. He also look at faces. He drink more supplemental food - lactogen. In the evenings he sleeps less. Here are some cute pictures taken yesterday and today.

Today, Our wedding day

We complete our one year journey together. Exactly one year ago i tied the knot with priya. Today we celebrate our first year wedding anniversary. There have been many ups and down during this period. We got our first male child during this year. It is a blessing of well-wishers, friends and almighty that is behind this. A journey has just begun.

Today its as usual for me. Most couple wear a new clothes go to temple in anniversary. I am not inclined to follow that routine. In the evening i am going to Mettupalayam. At least to enjoy some time with the kid and wife. It will energize me for the next one year.

This week we brought him to our home at kaniyur. It is now the auspicious month of vaikasi and third month from his birth. He was born during panguni. New borns are taken to father's home on odd numbered months. On the same day we take him back to mettupalayam so it is convenient for her mother to take care of him.

One remarkable change is his face resembles more of his maternal grandma. Coming months will change this further.

These photographs were taken when he was half asleep on my lap. His face if more matured compared when he was born. Changes in face are obvious. He is awake in the evenings and at nights he sleeps well. His appetite is growing more as he grows. We still give him lactogen as supplement for breast milk. He will an hospital visit on monday. He is now 1 and half months old. He could not recognize and respond to voice. He listen to talking.

The green picture are taken near my office. That is a vegetable garden maintained there. I have a plan of developing a same kind of garden at my estate.

Tamilnadu +2 / HSC results on 14th may

The Tamilnadu state board +2 / HSC Examination results will be published on tomorrow at 9 AM. After an years of serious education, handwork, tuition etc the much awaited results will be out tomorrow. Its a tense moment for both parents and students. The +2 marks will determine their fate and future. For professional degrees like engineering and medical no entrance exam will be held. Only the +2 marks will determine the qualification for entry into engineering and medical degrees in Tamilnadu.

The results will be out by tomorrow at 9 AM in the morning. I expect the servers will be down by heavy volume of queries. About 4 lac students have written the examination. The following sites are popular for +2 results.

I took these pictures on the evening when he was awake and playing after drinking some milk. His apetite is growing more. Now we supplement his breast milk by Nestle lactogen 1. It is an iron fortified infant formula manufactured by nestle India, suitalbe for newborns and infants below 6 months of age. When mothers breast milk is not sufficient you can use this formula.

Nishant has entered his 2nd month of life. His apetite is growing more. His mothers milk is not enough for him. He started crying for milk even after many feeding from his moter. We are looking for supplements at this stage. The alternative is cow's milk. But cow's milk is not much suitable for infants below 1 years. As per American Association of Paediatirician (APP) cow's whole milk given to infants below 1 year of age could lead to anemia (deficiency of iron) . Also it could lead to dehydration of babies because of the presence of sodium in cows milk. But in India despite these warnings many feed their baby with cow's milk. Many mother's won't produce enough breast milk to feed their baby. The baby's milk need increase over time. The demand increase but not the supply. Other alternative is nutrition supplements from food companies. Nestle's Lactogen 1 is other alternative for infants below 6 months of age. It is easy to digest, fortified with iron and other essential minerals and vitamins. It is sold at rupees 201 per 500 grams. Reasonably priced!

Mother's can increase their breast milk by taking more vegetables, and fruits, fish, muttons.etc. They should drink plenty of water or fruit juice.

This is our little boy nishant taken on 19-april-2010 when he was 17 days old. My mobile camera could not produce great images. But these images are far enough to retain the memory of our small child. I took these photos on last Monday morning when he was taking sun bath!. His grandma put some oil on his eyes. He is giving expressions which are beautiful. He sleeps more than 20 hours a day in these days. His eye jaundice is considerably reduced now and yellow color is diminishing faster. I have tough time with priya this week. For some reason she is angry with me. In the last two days she did not speak well with me. So i decided to ignore her. No visit to her house until she reveal me the reason.

This week is one the bad for Netzone. There was no internet due to road works. Only today we got the internet. Electricity is also scarce with many days of power cut due to road work and electricity poll installation.

On Monday palanisamy paid me the 20000 that he borrowed six months back from me. In this week i was busy with family resettlement matters. I decided to get a new ration card in my name and wife children's name. That work was undertaken by a fellow in unjappalayam. Regarding new gas connection i approached Indane gas distributor in Avinashi. The staffs look at my Voter's ID and Driving license and asked my to bring my lic policy as proof of address. They told that 'Somanur' was not mentioned in the address proof. I approached another newly opened HP gas distributor in Avinashi. The girl running the shop was familiar to muthu rathinam and the matter became easy. She asked me to visit the shop on monday and assured me a new connection.

Priya's delivery was a little complicated one when she broke the water and did not get the labor pain. The contractions of cervix is essential for labor. If a pregnant women breaks water and doesnot have pain means the baby should be delivered with in 24 hours to prevent infection. The low amniotic fluid also bring harm to the unborn baby.

Actually our doctor gave her medicine to induce contractions. At about 4 pm that evening she started feeling contractions and pain. Atlast she had severe contractions around 8 pm. At 9.12 pm the baby was delivered without cessarian surgery.

Its a long time since i made by last post on blogger. I have been busy with my newly opened computer shop. Its now two weeks old and getting busy. The highways department started road constructions work from annur to kamanaickenpalayam, as part of the upcoming Tamil language conference to be held at coimbatore. About 5 crore rupee is being spent for the road building. They have dig ditches in front of our office complex which is disrupting the business. It will take a month to complete the road. Once the road is built it will give a new outlook to karumathampatti and somanur. A bridge also will be constructed at karumathampatti to streamline the mega chenkappalli - madukkarai - kanyakumarai highway. Lands along the highway are being taken by the revenue department and the work will start by august, 2010.

Ok, the hot summer has approached and we could not bear the hot sun. The dusty and polluted Indian roads ads oil to the burning sun. The heat and sweating makes the body dehydrated and tired. Yesterday (6-march-2010) i received my first Adsense check from Google Inc. Adsense is the contextual advertising program offered by Google. Webmasters and website owners can display Google Ads on their site. For each click Google pays an amount to the publisher.

I reached the payment threshold during February. On 25th they prepared my standard delivery check, which i know from my adsense account (Payment history tab). They usually send payments via Blue Dart courier service in India. I expected my payment around 5-8 march. So i informed my local BlueDart Office about this and gave them my Mobile number. I visited them in the morning. Surprisingly i got a call in the evening telling there was a courier addressed to me. I went there immediately and collected the cover. So it reached on the 10th day after it was dispatched. Actually the courier guy told it would take only 4 days for a cover reach India from USA. So Google might have dispatched it only during 2-3 march. But the check date is 25th February. Anyhow my first adsense check smells very sweet!!

Yesterday we purchased the computer systems for NetZone. At Init Systems, coimbatore. Five systems are Intel Atom Processors with 1 GB Transcend RAM, 250 GB Seagate HDD, Mercury Cabinet and Logitech Multimedia Keyboard and Mouse. The Monitors were ACER 15.6 inch.

Another system was Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.943 GHz and 1 TB western digital drive, and 2 GB Transcend RAM and DVD writer and LG 20 inch Monitor.

We purchased a canon laser printer and HP 3-in-1 ink jet printer and two 8 port d-link network switch. cat-6 networking cable was purchased for 100 meters at 18 rupees a meter.

Junior Sundram on his way

This is a period of grief and joy. What is the grief? Within 3 months period teknics mama and athai passed away leaving two daughters. The 16th day of aunt's death was observed today. Early this morning about 10 member went to bhavani sangamam to perform rituals. According to holy hindu scriptures after death of the body and dissolve of astral mental and other subtle bodies the soul is seperated. The soul may take another birth according to its previous karma.The soul may face hardship during it's journey. The 16th day rituals are done to help the soul and guide it in it's journey. Another school of thought is that the dead ancestors (pithru) lives in separate world called 'Pithru loga'. The 16th day poojas are done as 'pithru dharpana'.

At 4 o clock i reached home and took a short sleep for 1 hour. At 5 pm i prepared the car for travel. Yesterday the the petroleum price was hiked. The petrol price was increased by 3 rupees. Before hike petrol was sold at about 50 rupees per litre. The Auto LPG is also getting costlier. At reliance, kollupalayam it was sold at 32.19 rupees per litre.

Only one month before my sibling born on this earth. Today (saturday 27th feb, 2010) i came to mettupalayam. I reached mettupalayam at about 6 pm. Conoor grandpa was there. Priya's mother also was there. We reached the clinic 7 pm. Doctor told that the baby was ok and hoped that normal delivery was possible. She prescribed iron tonic and insisted on taking iron regularly to help maintain adequate fluid level. The next was fixed at 15th march on Monday.

The work is almost complete for the netzone. Carpenter work has been finished and electrical wiring is being done. Today morning i pledged some jewels at Union Bank of India, Somanur to get a loan. For Agriculture purpose they are giving loan at the rate of 9.5 %. My jewels weigh about 80.9 grams or 10 sovereigns. The gold is really worth in these days. The maximum available amount for was rs. 75000. But i took only 60000. Appraiser ponnusamy wrote a check for me and i quickly encashed it. The due date is 25-feb-2011 exactly one year from today (25-feb-2010). In the evening palanisamy and bharati arrived at netzone. Also muthu came from coimbatore with three ceiling fans purchased. Rs. 10000 was given to nandhu. Kandasamy, poothottam also died in the evening. I attend the funeral and came home at 11 pm and writing this entry at 11.45 pm.

A new beginning

I think, this is going to be an eventful year for me. The first thing is i am going to be father in two months. Priya's due date is April 4. New role, new responsibility makes me a bit nervous. Raising a family is not an easy thing. You have to take care of many things. First thing for a family life is money. Without money you can not enjoy happiness in family life. But for an ascetic who abandoned family life, money is not a matter. A family man needs money, well enough to take care of family expenditures their food, health, education, entertainment, savings etc.

I am now heavily pressed by these burdens. Ok. lets hope things will turn better. Last week muthu rathinam and me went to LWSI, chidambaram to install the inventory software. Last saturday morning we took the Jan sathapthi 2082 express train and reached chidambaram at 4 pm. It took three days for me to set the software properly. ON monday afternoon muthu left chidambaram. On tuesday night i took ARC travel bus to reach coimbatore. I collected a check for Rs. 11212 (state bank of india, chidambaram).

Yesterday i completed software for Kaduvettipalayam oil mill. I billed rs. 10000 which was promptly paid by muthukumar.

During this week we discussed about opening new office for our ventures. Today Nandhu and me visited the new office premises and discussed about the investments. Total budget was about 4 lacs. We decided to equally share the investment as well as the profit. We estimated the monthly expenditure around 16000 and monthly income at least rs. 30000 by browsing, another 20000+ by software & hardware. We can have a monthly profit of 10000 each for the time being.

My online venture is also going on. I have created free horoscope and match making . I am getting 40-60 visitors a day now. The site was created just two weeks before. I have put free online horoscope and marriage match right now. I have plans of developing daily, weekly, monthly moon sign horoscopes or rasi pala. This needs great amount of efforts and time. But am pessimistic about the returns. I don't think the site is profitable. Since its a free website i have no way of earning a bit. Even third party advertising is not bringing in good money. I am planning to put paid consultation service in astrology, numerology etc. This week i removed Ads from many sites as the income was low. But yesterday i had 1020 page impressions. This is the first time i get this much of impressions. Hope the coming days will be joyous and satisfying.

My Thalai Pongal

This is my Thalai Pongal. That means first pongal festival after marriage. I celebrate this in my father-in-law's house. Usually we celebrate pongal in our Farm. We maintain some cattles and have coconut farms. So we celebrate it in our farmhouse. This year it a different pongal where is celbrate it in mettupalayam. Festivals are sweet to kids and chidren. When we are children we will anticipate pongal and deepavali weeks before. These festivals will give holidays to schools and colleges. We will get new clothings. We exchanged wishes. In those days of schools i used to send post cards for friends. This is the day of email and internet and SMS. We use SMS in most circumstances to wish our friends and relatives. As we grow older the charm of these festivals are reduced. Beacuse we have experienced it many times. They are no more enthusiatic, no more thrilling. It is just another day in our fast paced life. This year 2010 and previous year 2009 are important for me. In 2009 i got married and in 2010 i am going to become a father. New relations and new responsibilities. In professional sphere it looks positive. I am getting enough project to keep me engaged. My online ventures are also good and positive. I have created passive income systems that will generate revenues even when idle. My hardworks are finally paying off. Thank god.

Pongal, the traditional tamil festival celebrated all over Tamilnadu. Pongal is the festival that thanks Sun as it is the primary source of life on earth. Without sun and its rays plants can not produce food. Pongal is celebrated after the farmers harvest their agriculture produce.

Here is an account of how the Pongal festival is celebrated in a typical tamil village. Pongal is celebrated on the Month of 'Thai' when sun enters makara rashi(capricorn sign) of the zodiac circle. The first day of Thai is the pongal day. The day before is celbrated as 'bogi' festival, in which the old and useless household items are put into fire. 'Kappu kattu' (kappu means secure) is done in the evening. The 'neem' leaves are kept along the walls and roof of the houses. This will eliminate the evil forces. This announces the coming of new beginning, new year, new fortunes and hopes. (Though, traditionaly tamil new year commences in the month of 'Chitra', Government of TamilNadu announced in the year 2009, to celebrate Tamil New year in the month of Thai).

Houses will be cleaned and whitewashed for the pongal festival. Women will make sweets and savories. In the morning in front of houses beautiful rangoli will be drawn by women. All members in the family will take bath and wear new clothing. They will exchange wishes with the neighbors. The celebration of pongal can be traced back to the ancient Chola and Pandya dynasties.

Next is the main event. Pongal wil be cooked with new Clay pots. With raw rice (pacharisi) Jaggiri (Vellam) Elakkai (Elaichi) are put together and boiled. When the water boils and comes out of the pot women and children will sing 'Pongalo Pongal, Pongalo Pongal'. After pongal is cooked, Padayal is performed to the Sun God and other dieties, thanking them for their help in good harvest. Newly harvested paddy, sugarcane are kept in the padayal.

The after pongal is 'mattu pongal' in which the Cows and other cattles are washed. Their horns will be beatuifully painted. Another pongal will be cooked. This is to thank the cattles for their hardwork in agriculture fields. In south india and Tamilnadu, cattles are still used to plow the fields and pull carts.

The year 2009 has come to an end. I am writing this post while only 30 hours remaining to celebrate the year 2010. What has been achieved personally in the year 2009? What are the gains / loses? How to correct the past mistakes? What is the biggest joy of 2009? What is the biggest sad of 2009?

The year 2009 is very important to me personally. Because the biggest event in one's life, marriage happened to me. I am married for 7 months now. I am going to become a father in the year 2010! This is probably the biggest happy news for me. The sad thing is the death of Teknics mama. He died of sudden heart attack leaving his wife and two daughters orphaned. This is the sadest year for that family. May God give them courage to overcome this struggle. We can only pray.

Astrologically speaking, i am going through Mahadasa or Rahu and sub-period of mars. In the year 2010 Rahu dasa is going to be over and guru dasha will commence. The Guru dasa is usually good for everyone. I too expect that the Guru would bestow prosperity and happiness upon me. 2009 is a good year for me financially, materially and religiously. I have learned how to make money online by freelancing, online marketing, blogs etc. My computer programming skills have developed. I am trying with php, mysql now. I will create a matrimonial website with php, mysql in the year 2010. That would fetch me name, fame and money. Now I am thirty one years old. Still many years left for me. Attach xerox copy of address proof and identity proof like driving license.

I think it is a marketing strategy of Reader's digest. Infact the magazine is amusing an engaging with good articles, jokes and tips. They are sending these kind of sweepstakes letters to hundreds of thousands of people. At least a certain percentage of readers would subscribe for the magazine, attracted by the sweepstakes prize offer. Whom would like to loose a chance of becoming a millionaire? Teknics mama died

2nd december 2009 was a day of shock and awe when we hear the news that Teknics mama died of heart attack. I was at somanur oil shop, servicing a computer when babu called and told that he was suffering a heart ailment. Before they reach KMCH, the leading hospital in the city he was dead. The reason is obvisous, his corononay disease. Five years ago he was diagnosed with a heart block and was advised to undergo a byepass surgery. But instead of going for a surgery he took alternate medicines. At last his heart stopped pumping. Aunt is suffering kidney malfunction and is undergoing dialysis. Last week they went to Tiruchur, AMala hospital and got home dialysis kit.

mama's loss is severe blow the family of three, all women. His cable TV network is now a question mark. Who will run his business? What will happen? Anyway we had intimate relation with mama, he was jovial, energetic and knowledgable. May his soul rest in peace.

One Year After mumbai Attacks

Exactly one year ago, the nation was stunned when terrorists attacked its financial capital Mumbai. The pakistan supported terrorist entered Mumbai via sea, using securiy holes. They entered Mumbai Satrapathi Shivaji Railway terminal and opened fire on innocent people. Senior police official like hemant karkare and others were killed in action. Then the terrorists entered hotel Taj International and took people as hostage. The mumbai police was unable to stop them. Paramilitary was called-in, NSG forces were called-in. Army and Air-force were brought into action.
The only terrorist captured alive was 'Ajmal Kasab' a karachi resident. Police sub-inspector thuukaram captured him. All other terrorists were killed in the fighting. 164 people, from many countries and continents were killed by terrorists. 6 persons belonging to jew community were killed during a prayer in nariman house.
Today mumbai observed this memorial day to commorate the service of commandos and security personnel. Blood donations were given in CST terminal, mumbai.

Today kanagu weds selvi. We attend kangu marriages at arasur, Thangamman temple. Yesterday we went there at 2 pm and make our persence thorughout the day and returned in the night. Today early morning we went there for the muhurtham. We have some other marriages this week. Madappur sarathi and pubesh marriages are coming this week. Our valaikappu function is on next sunday. Many of my payments were overdue. I am almost in debt. But i am clinging to the software business! I am getting orders but not money. I still have belief in astrology and believe that my rahu dasa is bringing about these disasters to me. It will be over, soon. Ok. Last weeks activities:

On Sunday 15th, november 2009 we started for Chidambaram via Jan sadapthi 2083 express train. Muthu rathinam acompanied me. We went to chidambaram to meet Mr. prabu of Lutheran world services India. He works as co-ordinator in that international NGO organization. Earlier we had discussed with prabu regarding the software requirement for stock ledger maintenance. The software project was agreed by the NGO's National headquarters at mumbai. So, to finalize the deal we went to the Tamilnadu Branch at chidambaram. They work for tsunami relief constructions in cuddalore and two more sites.

We boarded the train at 7.50 am on sunday. The train reached mayiladuthurai junction at about 2.40 via Tiruchirappalli, Tanjavur and kumbakonam. We met prabu in the evening and collected details for the project. We met the accounts officer, stores in-charge in the process. The project was finalized for Rs. 25000 (Inclusive of 10.3 percent service tax). We received 50% payment as advance in the form of a/c cheque the next day. The same day we visited Chidambaram Nataraja temple. The temple is famous for lord shiva. (I lost my chappals there!). The great temple is one of the oldest temple complex in south india and attaracts several thousand tourists every year.

Mayiladuthurai is only 40 km away from chidambaram. We reached mayiladuthurai on monday afternoon at to get the jan satapthi at 2.35. Our driver got us to the station in-time. We reached tirupur junction at 8.40 pm.

The moonsoon was still bringing rain to tamilnadu. The worst was over for ooty. The queen of hills was tormented by the non stop rain. It was still drizzling when i got home. I bought some snacks at aasai bakery, karumathampatti and reached home for dinner.

Monsoon rain in tamilnadu

Two days of heavy rainfall in Tamilnadu makes the state water bounty. The north east monsoon was not great until last friday when cyclone hit the coast of nagapattinam and kanyakumari. The showers started on saturday 7th november 2009 when me and bharathi went to palladam to encash the cheques from ASM Sizing. That afternoon marked the start of heavy rain. Priya's relatives had arrived to home that afternoon. After lunch they departed with shareauto. Then we could not went out of home due to non-stop rainfall.

Not only coimbatore, Erode, Salem but the entire tamilnadu, from kanyakumari to chennai got the rainfall. Nagapattinam, Thiruvaroor, Erode, Salem, pondichery got the rain. The rain was due to the cyclone. Today (monday) a holiday has been declared to schools and colleges in coimbatore and other districts.

One of the useful schemes of DMK Government in TamilNadu is 'Kalaignar Kappeedu', a free Insurance scheme for poor and needy. In fact DMK Government Initiated many free schemes like free Color Television, Free GAS Connection and rice for 1 ruppee a KG. The opposition parties initially criticized DMK and its chief Kalaignar karunanithi for the freebies offered for vote. But these freebies got vote for DMK and DMK came to power in TamilNadu in 2006.

The freebies offered during Election campaign were implemented in phased manner. Initially color Television was offered only to those have no Television in Home. Later the scheme was covered to all having Ration Cards. Each Color Television Costs Rs. 2700/-.

Yesterday we enrolled ourselves for the Free insurance Scheme. Photographs were taken for each family by Star Health Personnel. In this scheme each family gets Insurance coverage Upto Rupees one lakh. Hats off to Kalaignar and his free Insurance scheme.

HP offers prize coupons on its original ink cartridge purchases. Last month i purchased a Original Black cartridge from HP and registered on its website. Two days later i received a email announcing that i had won a prize. I redeemed it for a philips iron box and today i received it from Blue dart courier.

For a 750 rupees priced ink cartridge a received a gift worth Rs. 700. Thank you HP! There are many more prizes to be won. So hurry up.

Today superauto was paid Rs. 20000 through ATM. In the evening he came to the office and I took twenty thousand from karur vysya ATM and paid to promptly. He would pay back in a months time.

The sizing project is going on in my office. I need to implement the project to the customer in the next week. The customer is a sultanpet based sizing mill owner. He asked for the software two weeks ago.

Sun DTH Review

Sun DIRECT is the latest entrant in the DTH Service in India. It belongs to the SUN TV group of Mr. Kalanithi maran, son of former Minister Murasoli Maran. SUN DIRECT claims to have 3.5 million DTH subscribers in India, a massive number. Here is my review on SUN DTH. This review is based on my real experience of purchase of SUN DTH.

I purchased SUN DIRECT DTH from a Coimbatore based Dealer. I could not make a choice because so many providers are out there. We already have a TATA sky DTH connection in our house. TATA Sky was good in Terms of singal reception / quality, customer service etc., But it is not good for those prefer regional channels especially the south indians seeking Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam or kannada language options. Because these language generes are dominated by the SUN TV Group, their offering is best for this segment. I had Airtel Digital TV in my mind when entering the shop. But except Aitel they got all others Sun Direct, Reliance BIG, TATA Sky and DISH TV. The shop owner suggested SUN DTH and friend also suggested the same.

So I decided to buy SUN DTH and paid RS. 1700/- ( Inclusive of SUN DTH STB, Dish, 15 meter cable, 6 months subscription of freedom pack in Tamil, installation and activation). Earlier the i was told that Rs. 200 extra will be charged for installation by a technician. Sun DIRECT is weak in this area of service. The DISH installation is not properly managed, but all other DTHs TATA, Reliance and Airtel offer professional installation by company trained personnel. This draw back was offset by SUNs other advantages like MPEG 4 compression technology, more number of channels etc.

They asked for a photo ID proof and i gave my Driving license. They quickly filled the application and gave the stb, dish and other things. I was told that the technicial would come on early morning of 14th. All these things happened on Monday, 12th october 2009, a heavily raining night with eventful journeys with venkat.

On 14th i phoned the technician and he told some reasons to come on the next day 15th. On 15th he came up with some other reasons / excuses. I was really raged now. Actually my town was some 30 kms from coimbatore. That may a reason. I contacted a local TV service center and they suggested a guy to install my DTH. I phoned him and he accpted to come to my house. Due to some other dealy he could not make it on 15th, instead he arrived on Friday, 16th.

Meanwhile i checked by accont status with sundirect website. The website sundirect selfcare have customer login feature offering all subscrption details, Balance, Top-up, Add-on, Validity etc. You have to provide the smart card number as your login name in the website. The default password is 'password'. You can change it later.

I logged in and found that my application was approved and activated on 13th october, really quick. All i needed is fixing DISH and connect the cables.

The technician fixed the Dish on the wall and oriented properly and checked the signal using his signal meter. All were fine. We connected the cable with STB and TV. Initially we got 'signal scrambled' message. He told the it would get ready in half an hour after initial setup. After some time we got the channels. Usually we tune in VHF (Very High Frequency) in our TV. But this did not work with SUN DTH. So I tried with UHF (Ultra High Frequency) and this worked!. The picture clarity was superb. Hats off to SUN DIRECT!. It beat TATA Sky in this area. Digital MPEG-4 works great. DTH remote control offers fairly good control over the STB. It offers channels menu, TV/Radio selection, channel organizing feature and more. I have not yet fully explored all the features. I am writing this review just an hour after the installation.

Customer service is really poor in sun DTH. I contact them using their customer care / contact us pages in their website, but didn't get a reply after two days. Its really a weakness as the first impression is poor. I will write a review after a week or two so i can ascertain whether my choice is good or bad. Its really tough time cable operators. They charge in the range of 130-200 for a number of Tamil and English channels. The arrival of DTH service tells the end of cable dominations. The subscribers are now free to choose the channels they view and the amount / price paid for that. At Rs. 100/- a month you get basic regional pack. At Rs. 300 a month you get almost all channels in all genres. Still a heavy amount comparing cable TV. With so much competition this amount will decrease in the future.

This year marked the emergence of DTH service in India. Now rural India enjoys TV telecast. Even the remotest corners of villages can view TV Channels. This is made possbile by the INSAT satellite. Thanks to ISRO. SUN DIRECT comes to you via INSAT4 satellite.

We convinced them for a invoice-cum-accounting software @ Rs. 8000. Then we went to kavundampalayam to meet senthils father-in-law. We returned at 7.40 pm. The car was filled with LPG for Rs. 200. Earlier in the morning i filled it with Rs. 300 at mettupalayam We discussed about marriage invitation and other things. We went to V.H road to buy a computer table. we paid rs. 1200 for a 2.5 ft table. we went to lovely radio to buy a DTH we bought SUN DTH at a price of Rs. 1700. SUN Direct offers regional south at 99 per month. I paid Rs. 1600 to venkatachalan toward the TV. Heavy rain started that day evening. Palanisamy was in sulur hospital. He had asked for a drop. He kept on calling us. We had our dinner and .... at sulur. We had in our car itself. I dropped venakt at his home at about 11.00 pm. There was still drizzling out. The reliable maruti 800 took me home at kaniyur at 11.45 pm. It was dark due to power failure in home. I unloaded things like table, DTH etc. Relaxed and got to bed.

Today we went to kanini technologies, coimbatore to purchase a computer for senniappan, madappur. There was a Celeron 2.0 Ghz, 256 MB RAM, 40 GB Hard Disk, 15" Monitor (HP) prized at Rs. 5500 with white color cabinet. An additional 256MB RAM was offered at an extra 350/-. Black color cabinet and monitor with new DVD Writer, total amount rose to 7500+. We negotiated some time and finished the deal at Rs.7400. We could not negotiate much as the kanini guy was not yeilding (MR. Ramanathan).

We accepted the deal and paid the full amount in advance and went for lunch. We returned at 2.00 pm and waited.. waited.. waited.. It was 6 pm and the machine was not ready. The DVD Writer was not avilable in IDE mode and finally the guy got one with SAMSUNG Brand.

After that they could not find Audio driver for that old Gigabyte mother board. They tried with variety of drivers and informed us they got driver conflicts. They once reformatted the system, still with no success. Now it is 7.00 PM and senniappan was really angry. He shouted with the persons and they tried to replace board with other working machine. That too didn't fit. After some more time they found another working piece and assembled them finally. We got out at 8.00 PM.

There was really some traffic jam in coimbatore due to the visit of congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Rahul was visiting coimbatore in the morning and a meeting was arranged at VOC Park, Coimbatore. Folks were coming in from nearest towns and districts. Rahul was a real attractions now. He met youngsters below the age 35, from variety of fields students, professionals, enterpreneurs, politicians etc. The Rajiv Age is coming back!

I forgt to mention that we finally ended up with a Intel Pentium 4 2 Ghz machine for the price of Celereon 2 Ghz as that was the available CPU

Now i am getting about 100 visits and 350 page views on an average from my, Astrology blog. My Tally Tutorial blog is also attracting visitors. It gets about 20-30 visitors on average. But these numbers of very low in order to generate income from advertisements. I am trying hard to push the numbers.

YSR Reddy Death - Nation Mourns

The Andhara pradesh chief minister YSR Reddy's dead body among others was found at about 10.00 am.

His body was charred (charred meaning: burnt by fire) .

Yesterday his helicopter was found missing after an hour of its departure from hyderabad, Andhra pradesh's capital. He is among the five killed in the chopper (meaning: helicopter) crash near kurnool.

Search was intensified by the central and state governments. Today the helicoper and its crew were found near kurnool district.

In andhra state holiday has been announced. In TamilNadu tomorrow will be holiday. In karnataka today and tomorrow will be holiday. ysr family is shocked by this death news.

Y.S.Rajasekara Reddy, Dead body found

The sad news of the death of Andhara pradesh chief minister Y.S.Rajasekara Reddy has been confirmed by the Home ministry and congress party high command. The dead bodies will be brought home soon.

Earlier the chooper that took Mr.Reddy has been missing since yesterday. Search parties were sent into action. The chopper was found near karnool district and his death has been confirmed officially. The entire nation mourn his death.

The cause for the crash is being investigated. Most propable cause is poor maintenance of the helicopter. The American built chopper was not serviced properly. Andhra pradesh Chief minister YS. Rajasekar Reddy Missing

Andhra pradesh is one of the largest states in Indian union. The states forms the southern Indian sub continent. The state is governed by congress party and chief of its minister is Y.S.Rajasekar redy. And the hottest news in India is The chief minister reddy is missing for about 20 hours now and his whereabouts in not know yet.

Mothers kasi trip

Mother has just returned from Kasi trip. On august 10th mother started package tour to Kasi viswanathar temple and other pilgirimage centers. An Erode based tour operator had arranged the tour.

They completed the 15 day trip to Madhura, Badrinath, Kedarnath, and kasi. They came day before yesterday to tirupur. From there they went to Rameshwaram temple by van. Yesterday night they returned home. Thats it!

Ok. Here is the small scoop on SEO.

There are two major things in SEO.

1. On page optimization.

This is to be done on the website / web page you create. Things to be considered are,

The 'title' tag. Put your main keyword in this tag. Put sub keywords separated by '|' or '::'.

For example, if main keyword is 'Loans' and sub keyword is 'Home Loans' the title tag would be,
title Loans | Home Loans title
The total words should not exceed 9.

Next the "h1, h2" tags. Search engine bots looks for these tags while indexing your site. Put your keywords in these tags.

Next, your keywords must appear in the first sentence of the page and last paragraph of the page. In between equally distribute the keywords. Make the keyword bold, italic and underline at 2,3 places.

Somanur, is the small town situated 3 kilo meters off the NH-47, on the way to Avinashi from coimbatore. The exact route to somanur is from coimbatore city drive east on the National Highway No:47 toward salem. In 26-27 kms you will reach karumathampatti, take right and drive some 3 kilometers, you will reach somanur. You can also come from Tirupur either via Avinashi or Via Mangalam or along side the railway line.

Today i received my AdSense PIN mailer from Google. A month ago i reached the verification threshold for my AdSense account. Google uses PIN as extra layer of security. The PIN is sent to the address associated to the AdSense Account. I got email 20 days before stating that the PIN was sent. I received it only today. The postal department has taken 20 days to deliver from Mountain view, USA to Somanur, TamilNadu, India.

Anyway, iam glad that i will reach my payment threshold of 100 dollars soon and receive cheque from Google Inc.

Powerloom strike

It is now about two weeks, the powerloom in and around somanur ceased to work. The powerloom here manufacture grey gada cloth. These looms operate on job work basis or purchase yarns and manufacture cloth on their own.

The strike was started on 5th august 2009. The demands are Cancellation of fine for Electric bill, and give the same price / meter as before. The coolee / wage was reduced due to the low demand and price fall for gada cloths.

The previous discussion / meeting / negotiation failed to give any result. 4th round of talks with cloth manufacturers will be held on 19th august. Deputy commissioner for labor welfare, Coimbatore will preside over the talks.

The powerloom owners want the Tamilandu government and its ministers intervene their problem and give a solution.

Textile mills and Sizing mills are also affected by this strike. Sizing mills manufacture the yarn in beams. These beams are supplied to powerlooms were cloth is manufactures with weft yarn. These sizing mills in somanur, karumathampatty, palladam are affected due to strike.

Yesterday our home was connected with BSNL Broadband connection. After initial diagnosis for signal strength from somanur BSNL Exchange we were given connection at 512 KBPS speed. The DSL connection was not a PPP but always on connection with out user name and password. They gave a password and user name to be used in their portal. The 2 GB data plan costs about 600 a month. I connected my lenovo laptop through ITI routers wi-fi facility. It connected immediately without any hassle. The problem is the wireless connection is open without any security. This is the default configuration setting in the ITI ADSL router.

All Broadband connections given by BSNL with ITI router is wireless enabled and ready to connect by other wifi computers. This is a security threat as anyone with a PC or laptop with wifi facility can connect to these routers and browse for free. There is not much to panic about it. Nowadays wifi is common and provided for free in many public places like airport, railways and hotels. In karumathampatty you can connect through wifi in many places where BSNL Broadband Internet is active. Its really a hot day with thermometers showing above 100 degree Fahrenheit. Tamil nadu people especially coimbatore, tirupur and erode people are unlucky with out rain in this monsoon season. Every year rain hits our region about this time of july-august. Baghvan varuna, the rain god, please turn to our side as we are desperately looking for you.

Ponnusamy and me had lunch at the newly opended Sri Saravana Bhavan hotel in karumathampatty. The hotel was started barely a month before and getting good number of customers now. Two days before i had morning breakfast there. It was not bad comparing other cheap hotels in karumathampatty. The name saravana bhavan is synonymous with hotel as it was made popular by annachi in chennai. The afternoon lunch meal comprise sambar, puli kulambu, rasam, appalam, poriyal, kootu, payasam and curd. It is comparable to Aryas, coimbatore and not as good as Annapoorna hotel, coimbatore. Still Annapoorna maintain the quality and taste.

Saturday 15th august 2009 will be a national holiday. School and college students and government employees are happy about the holiday. Flag sellers are happy about the extra income they could muster by selling the national tricolor flag. Other common public will simply ignore or unaware of the fact that their nation got Independence from the Great Britain 62 years ago.

After 62 years of Independence from a foreign ruler nations progress is appreciable in many fields including science and technology, agriculture (with green revolution and white revolution), aerospace, space technology, defence, nuclear technology, foreign relations and so on.

Still millions of people live below poverty lines. One third of nations people still go to bed without food. Millions of villages are dark without electricity, and other basic amenities. We must look back to the british rule where they constructed a number of irrigation dams, built the huge railways network, bring telephone and telegraph in India. There was suppression in British rule. But they treated their subjects well.

Todays politicians are corrupt and selfish. Millions of dollars worth black money is deposited in swiss banks. Indians, both politicians and businessmen cheat the government and keep this large sums of money without use.

All levels of the government machinery is corrupt by its staff. From peon to district collector, everyone want money to do their duties. From VAO Office to secratariat everybody asks bribe. The vigilance and CBI are making arrests of corrupt official in a regular day to day manner. They are getting arrested red handed. Still they involve in bribery cases. The reason is apparent. They easily get out of the case with out any punishment. These offenders are not convicted by law. These criminals working for government should be punished by the public. They should be branded as criminals and should be dismissed from their posts immediately. Why do they ask for money to do their job? What is the reason no severe action is taken against them?

From registrar office to taluk office, from EB office to post office all government servants ask money without any shame or self esteem. They are getting excellent salary and perks. They get pension benefit and gratuity. They get bonus and incentives. They get holidays and leaves. Still they want more. They don't give respect to public. The police station is the worst example. Many criminals, theives, murderers, cheats, frauds, rapists work in the police department. The highest punishment for their crimes are simple transfer or suspensions. From the recuruitment itself the corruption begins. You will get a government job only if you are able to pay thousands of ruppees to the selection committee or board.

Recent elections in India, especially in Tamilnadu have shown the trends. People receive money from candidates and vote accordingly. This is the beauty of democracy. Proxy voting and criminals in elections is common thing in India.
